On Saturday, November 18 the Tempe Aviation Commission (TAVCO) will be hosting an Aviation History event at the Tempe History Museum from 8am-10am. Residents will learn about the history of aviation in Tempe, including its own airport as well as the development of Sky Harbor.
Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about TAVCO and their role in advising Council on noise related issues and additional impacts of aircraft and airport operations on Tempe residents. TAVCO was instrumental in advocating and gathering data which lead to Tempe being a key stakeholder in regulations and policies guided by the Federal Aviation Administration. TAVCO is encouraged that input provided to the Tempe City Council has in the past and continues today to facilitate decision making that, in this one very technically specialized area, has improved quality of life for Tempe residents.
